Description

Complex problems of sustainable development arise from the interaction of multiple social, economic, and environmental factors. This course aims to introduce systems thinking skills to students to address complex problems of sustainability.

Learning Outcomes

To know the basic sustainability notions and concepts and distinguish between different perspectives of environmental, social and economic sustainability. To analyze and evaluate progress towards the various, sometimes conflicting, objectives and challenges of the SDGs. To acquire systems thinking skills to address the complex problems of sustainability and learn to design strategies to target their underlying causes and drivers

Researcher on the MANGO Chair in Corporate Social Responsibility

Qualifications:

PhD in Environmental Sciences (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)
Environmental Technology Engineer (TU Berlin)

Biography:

Silvia Ayuso Siart is academic director and chief researcher at the MANGO Chair in CSR. She was previously a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Business in Society and the ”la Caixa” Chair in Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Governance at IESE Business School and an academic collaborator at the UOC. She has also worked as an environmental consultant and environmental management systems auditor (ISO 14001).
