Mention in Francophonie
Since its foundation, ESCI-UPF has kept in direct contact with companies and Chambers of Commerce to give us an inside understanding of business needs and ensure that our curriculum remains up to date and in tune with a constantly evolving market. With this in mind, we have created the Mention in Francophonie specialisation to meet the needs of our closest environment.
As one of our neighbours, France has a major influence on our economy and business fabric, as it does on much of the African and Canadian markets and on regions such as the Benelux countries. As a result, companies are increasingly interested in professionals with the specific skills and expertise to do business in these areas, including expert knowledge of their language and culture.
Programme
The Mention in Francophonie is aimed at students with a sound command of the French language and a keen interest in French culture and French-speaking markets who are looking to orient their career towards international business in Francophone companies. This Mention adds value to the Bachelor’s Degree in International Business and Marketing.
Students should have certified proficiency in French at B2 level or higher or hold a DALF C1 or DALF C2.
Specialisation
Students taking this specialisation complete 48 ECTS credits during their third and fourth years as follows:
- 20 ECTS credits of elective subjects taught in French, either at ESCI-UPF or during an exchange in a Francophone country
- 20 ECTS credits of mandatory internships in Francophone companies, with the final report written in French
- 8 ECTS credits for their Final Project, written and defended in French
Requirements according to Language Proficiency
Students coming from the Bachibac programme or who only have B2 level proficiency in French must not only complete the 48 ECTS credits of the specialisation but should also choose French as an elective language during the first two years of their degree to bring their language proficiency up to the level required to obtain a DALF C1-C2. They will also have the option of taking required subjects taught in French across the four years of the degree.
Students who already hold a DALF C2 may take their required subjects directly in French, as well as completing the 48 ECTS credits of the specialisation.
