Biography

Maria Kharchiladze Bigvava (Moscow, 1971) studied Romance languages at Moscow State University, specialising in teaching Spanish, Catalan and European literature and translating. In 1992 she moved to Catalonia to work as a translator for Roca Junyent legal practice and as head of their Moscow office, as well as running the European Commission’s TACIS projects. Since 1997 she has taught Russian at ESCI-UPF, EIM (UB) and EOI (Drassanes). In 1997 she gave the opening speech at the Festa Major in Vilafranca del Penedès. She regularly carries out commercial and legal translations for TV3 and Russian-based companies, among others.
