The Director of the Chair takes part in UNESCO’s day celebration in Barcelona

From November 11 to 18, the “Xarxa Civil UNESCO a Catalunya” celebrates the seventh edition of the UNESCO’s Week.

The ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of UNESCO will take place on November 17 at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans in Barcelona.

Dr. Pere Fullana, Director of the Chair, will participate in the celebration presenting the Chair and talking about environmental evaluation criteria.

Under the slogan “UNESCO, a longing for firm and constant peace”, the Xarxa Civil UNESCO a Catalunya celebrates the seventh edition of UNESCO’s week November 11 to 18, once again demonstrating its commitment with the ideals, principles and objectives of the Constitution of UNESCO, signed on 16 November 1945, based on building peace. Within this context, next friday, 17th November, the UNESCO’s 70th anniversary commemoration at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (IEC), will count with the participation of UNESCO Chair in Life Cycle and Climate Change ESCI-UPF’s Director, Pere Fullana, with a presentation of the Chair and a lecture on the environmental evaluation criteria. 

This edition’s programme includes various conferences, work-shops, informative sessions and cultural activities around Catalonia about sustainable development and solidarity-based economy, among others.

Commemoration ceremony of UNESCO

Next Friday, November 17th, the day before UNESCO's Week closing, and in parallel to the activities undertaken within the programme, ceremony commemorating the UNESCO’s day will take place at the Institut d’Estudis Catalans in Barcelona, from 18.00 to 20.30h. It will count with the participation of Pere Fullana, Director of the UNESCO Chair in Life Cycle and Climate Change ESCI-UPF, Joan Albert Argenter, Director of the UNESCO Chair of Linguistic and Cultural Diversity - IEC, and Martí Boada, consultant of the UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere Programme - Paris.

The ceremony will be completed with a musical performance by the students of Suzuki Method from the “Associació UNESCO El Masnou” and will be concluded with the duet “Vent entre cordes” from the “Associació UNESCO de l’Hospitalet de Llobregat”, thus putting an end to the activities commemorating UNESCO’s background and future challenges around the world.
