Dear Students,
First and foremost, we hope that you and your family are well.
On Monday 12 October, the public health and university authorities, together with university representatives, met to discuss the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic and agreed to reduce face-to-face tuition at all Catalan universities. It is important for us all to keep our social contacts to a minimum and to restrict our movements. As a result, this week we are moving classes from onsite to online as smoothly as possible.
Following the guidelines laid down by the public health and university authorities, and in keeping with the Public Statement by the UPF Governing Body, ESCI-UPF has activated the provisions of its Contingency Plan for the 2020/20021 Academic Year to move classes for the GNMI and BDBI Bachelor’s Degree programmes entirely online. Starting on Thursday 15 October, all teaching activities will be delivered online, for an initial period of 15 days.
Classes will continue to be held in person at ESCI-UPF throughout Tuesday 13 and Wednesday 14 October, before moving entirely online on Thursday 15 October. In principle, online classes will be held at exactly the same time as the face-to-face classes they replace. Any changes to class times will be kept to a minimum and will be promptly posted on the SIGMA timetable platform.
We are well aware of the extra effort we are asking you to make at this difficult time, but we are sure that as an academic community we will manage to adapt to these short-term inconveniences.
We will keep you regularly updated about any further changes as the situation evolves. You will find the latest information on the ESCI website in general and on the Covid-19 Announcements page in particular. In addition, please follow any instructions you receive from your lecturers, tutors and coordinators.
Best wishes during these trying times,
ESCI-UPF director and manager
