Generational Challenges in International Higher Education

ESCI-UPF organises an International Staff Week, which offers an exceptional opportunity for participants to experience the ESCI-UPF campus, our students, and our staff from a unique perspective.

In the midst of overload, can we still accomplish our work successfully? The challenges facing international higher education today are numerous. Are students changing? And their expectations? Do we understand them? Are staff and institutions adapting to these new challenges?

How can we effectively address students' needs, navigate the landscape, and communicate in a way that promotes internationalisation and cultural understanding?

We do not provide a 'one-size-fits-all-solution', obviously. But we would like to tackle these challenges in a constructive way altogether. Through open discussions about our shared challenges, mutual support, and collaborative problem-solving, we aim to find effective solutions.

International Staff Week will be held at ESCI-UPF from May 6 to May 8, 2026.

Language requirements

The working language for all sessions is English. A minimum level of B2 is required to follow the sessions.

Who can register?

• Open to all (administrative/teaching) staff members of our Partner Universities who work in the field of internationalisation or international relations offices.
• The number of participants is limited to 20 colleagues (1 per institution).  
• ESCI-UPF undertakes a selection process to ensure that the selected participants best match the objectives of the International Staff Week.
• Confirmation of selected and non-selected participants will be sent by the end of February 2026.
• Unfortunately, due to capacity reasons, we are unable to accept staff for job shadowing or individual training visits outside of the ISW scheme.

Fundings

Fee for participating in the ESCI-UPF International Staff Week:  200€.

Participants are responsible for covering their own accommodation and travel to/from Barcelona.
