The current crisis sparked by Covid-19 has major consequences for the economy in general and for companies and consumers in particular. At the same time, it has also created new opportunities and driven moves towards new economic models. In keeping with its mission to maintain economic stability in the Eurozone, the European Central Bank faces the unique challenge of taking measures to promote economic growth that will help a wide range of different EU countries emerge from this crisis.

To discuss this and other challenges, Guillaume Pierre Wunsch, governor of the National Bank of Belgium, will deliver the closing lecture of the 2020/2021 academic year, “The ECB and Covid-19: The Outlook Brightens But Challenges Remain”, at noon on 16 June 2020.

Guillaume Pierre Wunsch is governor of the National Bank of Belgium and a member of the ECB’s Governing and General Council, the European Systemic Risk Board, the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements and the IMF’s Board of Governors. He holds a PhD in Economics (UCL) and a Master’s Degree in Public and International Affairs (Princeton).
