Biography

Dr Mark Jeffery is a specialist in the law, institutions and policies of the European Union,  with a particular focus on Trade Policy, the Single Market and Social Policy.  He has a law degree from the University of Manchester,  an MA in Industrial Relations from the University of Warwick,  and a PhD in EU Law from the European University Institute in Florence. He is accredited by the Catalan Agency for University Quality (AQU Cat, acreditació en Recerca) and the Spanish Agency for University Quality (ANECA).  He has taught at several universities in Barcelona, including the Pompeu Fabra University, the University of Barcelona, the Open University of Barcelona and the Blanquerna / Ramon Llull University.

He worked for over 15 years for the European Commission,  where he was Head of Communication at the Commission Representation office in Barcelona.

Description

Company tax treatment. Corporate taxation in Spain and comparative analysis of EU tax law. Principles of employment law in Spain and the EU. Case studies.

Learning Outcomes

Understand the main implications, possibilities and legal limitations of business activity and the different kinds of trading companies. Formulate and select the various tax and internal-organisation strategies for a company, in accordance with given objectives, from a comparative perspective within the EU.
