After many years since the first negotiations were launched, in June 2019 the EU and Mercosur announced an ambitious Association Agreement that combines trade and non-trade interests alike. Although still pending ratification, the Agreement presents the potential to become a vector of economic growth and consolidation of the interregional relations. However, it is not without certain controversies, related to some specific sectors such as agriculture, food safety, and environmental concerns that may lead the Agreement to a dead-lock. Will the parties finally attain their goals?
