EUKIT, the ESCI-UPF Jean Monnet Module on "Knowledge and Innovation for the European Trade Challenges" is glad to announce the talk "From Policy to Politics. Why did the EU Common Trade Policy become so relevant?", held online on Monday, Mar 8th, at 01:00pm (CET).

Dra. Patricia-García Duran, University of Barcelona Associate Professor, will join this event as key speaker.

The EU Common Trade Policy is a key dimension of the EU integration process. It definitely contributes to economic growth and it is the source of over 30M jobs in EUrope. There is no doubt, moreover,  that it will turn into an even more critical arena in the post-Covid-19 recovery. Additionally to that, the EU Common Trade Policy is a relevant component of the EU External Action. It makes it possible that the EU Member States speak with one single voice and helps the EU to be perceived as a relevant actor in the internal scene. However, many changes have recently taken place in global trade governance, resulting in a clear politicization of the EU trade policy. Why did it become so relevant, and not only in economics terms?
