The LCA4Climate is recognised as a consolidated research group by the Catalan Government

The UNESCO Chair in Life Cycle and Climate Change ESCI-UPF has obtained the recognition as a Consolidated Research Group (GRC, in its Catalan acronym) from the Catalan Government’s Agency for Management of University and Research Grants(AGAUR, Agència de Gestió d'Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca). This grant has been provided through the call to support the activities of the SGR research groups devoted to Catalonia in the period 2017-2019, with the code 2017 SGR 1579. This acknowledgment will allow the Chair to make progress in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) projects covering a wide range of environmental aspects.

The goal of the call is to support groups that carry out research in Catalonia in the different scientific areas with the aim of promoting their activity and its scientific, economic and social impact, as well as promoting the international projection of their research.

The Chair’s boost

This recognition strengthens the research activity of the Chair and reflects the commitment of the research group to continuously improving its innovative research on LCA and its application on mitigating climate change. Thus, this support reinforces and consolidates the Chair while proving that “we are on the right path to promote scientific research, cooperation, education and communication on sustainable development of products and services, at national and international level, for the benefit of the environment and society,” states Pere Fullana i Palmer, director at the Chair.
