Biography

Mara Balestrini is a Human Computer Interaction (HCI) expert and technology strategist. She has an impressive track record of successful independent technology interventions for community engagement and jointly led an innovation strategy firm. She is a partner and research director at Ideas for Change, a think tank and consultancy firm advising cities, businesses and institutions on innovation, open and collaborative strategies, citizen participation and exponential growth. More recently, she has led efforts in collaboration with KWMC and Bristol City Council to develop “The Bristol Approach”, a commons-based framework for participatory sensing.
